About Calacatta d’Oro
Formed when quartz sandstone recrystallises under pressure, Calacatta d'Oro carries marble-like movement in a stone that rates around 7 on the Mohs scale. The warm golden ground lifts a space that gets little natural light, and it pairs well with darker joinery.
Calacatta d'Oro suits worktops, flooring, cladding and feature walls, indoors or out. Acid does not etch it the way it etches marble, which is the single reason most people move from marble to quartzite. It should still be sealed, because the stone does absorb liquid.
Calacatta d'Oro is available as gangsaw slabs, cutter slabs, tiles and countertops. Standard thicknesses are 18 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm, and other dimensions are cut to drawing. Every order is shade-graded before crating, which is what stops a delivery arriving as a patchwork.

Yes. Calacatta d'Oro is quarried, so veining and background tone move from slab to slab. Quartzite is often bought for a single dramatic run, so tell us at enquiry stage if the slabs need to be sequenced or book-matched and we will select the lot accordingly.
Can Calacatta d'Oro be used outdoors?
Yes. Calacatta d'Oro is a natural stone with no resin in it, so ultraviolet light does not affect it and it handles a freeze-thaw cycle. Specify a honed or leathered finish for anything walked on outdoors so it stays grippy when wet.
How much maintenance does it need?
Seal it on installation and re-seal every year or two, because quartzite is porous even though it is hard. Day to day it needs only warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner. It will not etch from a lemon the way marble does.

Can I get a sample before ordering?

How is it packed for export?
Film wrapping, EPE foam between every surface, edge and corner protection, then heat-treated fumigated timber crates on moisture-resistant pallets. Loading is supervised and photographed before the container is sealed.
