About Volcano
Volcano is quarried quartzite, not engineered quartz. The two names cause endless confusion; this one is a natural stone, and it is harder than granite. The colour runs across a range within a single slab, so it is best selected from the actual material rather than from a photograph.
The practical case for Volcano is that it survives being used. It resists scratching better than granite, tolerates heat, and does not etch on contact with lemon or wine. Seal it on installation and it will take a busy kitchen without complaint.
Volcano is available as gangsaw slabs, cutter slabs, tiles and countertops. Standard thicknesses are 18 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm, and other dimensions are cut to drawing. Every order is shade-graded before crating, which is what stops a delivery arriving as a patchwork.

What is Volcano best used for?
It is commonly specified for kitchen countertops, flooring, wall cladding, feature walls, exterior facades and table tops. If your application is not on that list, ask u2014 the answer is often yes, with the right finish.
Does Volcano vary between slabs?
Yes. Volcano is quarried, so veining and background tone move from slab to slab. Quartzite is often bought for a single dramatic run, so tell us at enquiry stage if the slabs need to be sequenced or book-matched and we will select the lot accordingly.
Can Volcano be used outdoors?
Yes. Volcano is a natural stone with no resin in it, so ultraviolet light does not affect it and it handles a freeze-thaw cycle. Specify a honed or leathered finish for anything walked on outdoors so it stays grippy when wet.
How much maintenance does it need?
Seal it on installation and re-seal every year or two, because quartzite is porous even though it is hard. Day to day it needs only warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner. It will not etch from a lemon the way marble does.

Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes. We send physical samples of any shade in the catalogue before you commit, and for larger orders we will photograph the actual slabs allocated to you prior to crating.
How is it packed for export?
Film wrapping, EPE foam between every surface, edge and corner protection, then heat-treated fumigated timber crates on moisture-resistant pallets. Loading is supervised and photographed before the container is sealed.
